Our Raw Vegan Cheesecake Recipe

Every human being loves cheesecake, including vegans. We just couldn’t let that recipe go when we switched to a plant based diet, so we created our own personal take on this famous dessert. This vegan cheesecake is free of all dairy, sugars and sweeteners but it’s also raw and plant-based. Raw desserts ensure that you get the maximum benefits from the ingredients since heat has not degraded their properties. Our recipes are always made to nourish and give us a maximum of healthy nutrients, even when indulging in our favorite tastes. 


The Recipe

For the crust you will need: 

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup dates
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • coconut flakes

You will blend them together to form a sticky paste. You will then find a small cake mold or one of these metal loops for tartares and press the crust at the bottom of it. Put in the freezer 30min

For the “cheese” you will need

  • 1 coconut yogurt
  • a handful of cashews
  • 50ml of plant milk
  • vanilla or orange blossom extract (optional)
  • a few berries
  • 1 tbs of maple syrup

Blend all the ingredients together to get a frothy yogurt texture. Pour it over your crust and freeze min 4 hours. Extra tip: you can do one layer without the berries – freeze 30min and then add the berry layer like we did. 

Why Vegan ?

Many ask why vegans decide to ditch dairy altogether, since the cruelty behind it is not very obvious. We could list a lot of ethical reasons why dairy is not okay, like how farmers inseminate cows and steal their calves from their mothers. But today we will try to convince you with the health reasons. Milk is a very nutrient dense liquid, made to make a calf grow into a full grown cow. It has many hormones that are naturally present, and some not so natural chemicals, depending on what the animal feeds on. In a world where nutritious food was scarce, it was totally okay to get calories from raw milk. But today this milk is processed, pasteurised and produced by unhealthy cows which is a recipe for disaster for our health. Many studies by known doctors and scientists show that consuming too much milk is detrimental for our health

These are a few of the reasons we prefer to limit our dairy servings, not let’s get to the stuff we use to replace it. There are many healthy alternatives that are very accessible and super healthy like cashew, almond or hemp milk.
